Title: Establishment of a rat model for detrusor atonyoccui urinary incontinence
Abstract: Objective To establish an animal model for stress urinary incontinence in rat by freezing the bladder wall with liquid nitrogen. Methods Twenty adult female Wistar rats were divided into experimental group(n=10) and the control group(n=10).In experimental group the bladder of rats was exposed after laparotomy and bladder wall was frozen with a cold probe pretreated with liquid nitrogen (-80℃),the rats in control group were sham-exposed with simple laparotomy. Two weeks after operation the contraction of isolated detrusor was tested and the pathological changes in the bladder wall were observed. Results There were significant differences in the maximum tension and contraction of the detrusor frequency between control group and experimental group(P0.001).Histological examination of bladder detrusor shows that the muscle fibers in experimental group were loose and thin, however, those in control group were thick and tight. Conclusion Freezing the bladder wall with liquid nitrogen can establish animal model of bladder detrusor weakness of urinary incontinence of high incidence and stable.
