Title: The animal model of oculomotor nerves injury for pathological research
Abstract: Objective Objective To establish a feasible and reproducible rabbit model of oculomotor nerves injury, and to observe the pathological changes of the oculomotor palsy caused by cisternal segment of oculomotor nerve compression. Methods The cisternal segment of oculomotor nerves were exposed in 10 New Zealand white rabbits after microsurgery, oppression by silicone tube, the oculomotor nerve was made palsy. Results All the procedures used in the study were tolerated well by New Zealand white rabbits.Varying degree of oculomotor nerve palsy was made by silicone tube oppression immediately. Conclusion The animal models have been established to study the pathological changes of the oculomotor injury and have shown great feasibility and reproducibility. It will benefit the investigation of oculomotor nerves caused by artery aneurysm.
