Title: On the Localization of Buddhist Words in Faxian's Pilgrimage to India
Abstract: The translation of Buddhist literatures was generally considered as a medium for colloquial words coming into written language. But in fact, the process of the spreading of Buddhist words in Chinese literatures was gradual. Some Chinese literatures related to Buddhism were influenced at first. Faxian's Pilgrimage to India, as a Chinese Buddhist literature, which was written by Chinese Buddhists, is very important to know how Buddhist words came into Chinese. This paper takes some Buddhists words for example and tries to reflect the spread of Buddhist words from the translation of Buddhist literatures to the native writings, namely the course of localization.
