Title: Efficacy of Ambroxol Hydrochloride Given by Intravenous Injection and Atomizing Inhalation in Patients Suffering from Ventilator-associated Pneumonia
Abstract: Objective To study the efficacy of Ambroxol hydrochloride given by intravenous injection and atomizing inhalation in patients suffering from Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in ICU. Methods Eighty-six VAP patients were randomly assigned into two groups on average: Ambroxol group and control group. In addition to some common treatments for two groups, such as mechanical ventilation, antibiotics, airway humidification, nutritional support and water-electrolyte balance maintaining,Ambroxol group were also given Ambroxol hydrochloride both by intravenous injection and atomizing inhalation. Results Compared with control group,Ambroxol group showed a better curative effect in less phlegm, better anti-infection and shorter period of mechanical ventilation. Conclusion Administration of Ambroxol hydrochloride both by intravenous injection and atomizing inhalation could be an effective way to cure VAP auxiliarily.
