Title: Clinical Observation of 50 Cases of Primary Trigeminal Neuralgia Treated with Acu-moxibustion
Abstract: Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acu-moxibustion on primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods:50 cases were randomized into treatment group and control group. In treatment group(26 cases),acu-moxibustion was applied to Shenting(神庭GV24),Yintang(印堂EX-HN3),Shuǐgōu(水沟GV26),Fēngchi(风池GB20),Wangǔ(完骨GB12),Tiānzhu(天柱BL10),Hegǔ(合谷LI4)and Waiguān(外关TE5). In control group(24 cases),carbamazepine was administered. Results:The total effective rate was 96.15% in treatment group and was 54.16% in control group, indicating significant difference in comparison(P0.01). The therapeutic effect in treatment group was superior to that in control group. Conclusion:Acu-moxibustion plays a very good role in treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and presents sustainable efficacy and less adverse response, thus it is worth to be further promoted in practice.
