Title: Clinical Observations on Acupuncture plus Direct Current Drug Introduction for the Treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia
Abstract: Objective To seek a treatment for trigeminal neuralgia,which has a definite effect and preserves facial sensation as much as possible.Methods Sixty were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups.The treatment group received conventional acupuncture plus ion-introduction of vitamin B12 and anisodamine injections and the control group took carbamazepine and methycobal orally.A statistical analysis was made after both groups were treated for 30 days.Results The total efficacy rate was 93.3% in the treatment group and 70.0% in the control group.A total of 48 patients were followed up for 6 months to 1 year.During that time,3 patients of the treatment group suffered a relapse,with a recurrence rate of 11.1% and 6 patients of the control group did so,with a recurrence rate of 28.6%.Conclusion Acupuncture plus direct current introduction of vitamin B12 and anisodamine(654-2) for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia has the advantages of being definitely effective,easy to perform and able to preserve sensation in the facial skin of the patient.
