Title: Observation on preventive effect of reduced glutathione on oxaliplatin-induced neurotoxicity
Abstract: Objective To observe the efficacy of reduced glutathione in preventing neurotoxicity of oxaliplatin. Methods Eighty seven chemotherapy patients with oxaliplatin were randomly divided into two groups:the treatment group(44 cases with reduced glutathione)and the control group(43 cases without reduced glutathione). Two days before chemotherapy, the treatment group received 250 ml 5% glucose injection added with 1800 mg reduced glutathione intravenously every day for 7 days.Control group only received common treatments without reduced glutathione.Neurotoxicity of oxaliplatin was observed. Results The generation rates of neurotoxicity in two groups were 11.36%(5/44),51.16%(22/43),and had significant difference(χ 2=16.09,P0.05).Conclusions Reduced glutathione is effective in preventing neurotoxicty of oxaliplatin in chemotherathy patients.
