Title: Effect of Pelvic Floor Electrical Stimulation on Postpartum Pelvic Floor Function
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of pelvic floor electrical stimulation on postpartum pelvic floor function. Methods At 3 weeks post partum, the primiparae were selected to receive 4-week therapy of pelvic floor electrical stimulation, and the incidence rates of postpartum pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI),bladder neck angle, bladder neck rotational angle, and subjective symptoms at one-year post partum were observed. The therapeutic effect was compared between pelvic floor electrical stimulation group and conventional treatment group. Results At 12 weeks post partum, the incidence rates of SUI and POP in pelvic floor electrical stimulation group were lower than those in conventional treatment group.Bladder neck angle and bladder neck rotational angle in pelvic floor electrical stimulation group were less than those in conventional treatment group (P0.01).The occurrence rate of subjective symptoms at one-year post partum in pelvic floor electrical stimulation group was less than that in conventional treatment group (P0.05).Conclusions Pelvic floor electrical stimulation can effectively reduce the incidence of postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction.
