Title: Effects of Sangju Qingjie Decoction on Oxidative and Antioxidative System of Acute Smoking Rats
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the effects of Sangju Qingjie Decoction(SQD) on oxidative and anti-oxidative system of acute smoking rats. Methods:Fifty male rats were equally randomized into 5 groups, and they were normal control group, model group,n-acetyl cysteine(NAC) group, and low-dose and high dose SQD groups. The normal control group and model group were given distilled water intragastrically,low-dose and high-dose SQD groups were intragastrically given lowor high-dose SQD 1mL/100g body weight, and NAC group was given 0.2g/mL NAC 200mg/kg body weight.Rats except the normal control group were given smoking exposure daily after intragastrical administration for 7 continuous days. After 7 days, reduced glutathione hormone(GSH) content and superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity in the plasma and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) were detected. Results:Compared with the normal control group,GSH content and SOD activity in BALF and plasma were decreased in the model group(P0.01).Compared with the model group,GSH content in BALF and SOD activity in BALF and plasma were decreased in low-dose SQD group(P0.05),and GSH content and SOD activity in BALF and plasma were all decreased in high-dose SQD group and NAC group(P0.01),indicating that SQD had dose-dependent protective effect on the airway of rats with acute pulmonary injury induced by passive smoking. Conclusion:SQD can protect the acute smoking rats from lung injury, and the protective mechanism may be related with the inhibition of the generation of free radicals and with the decrease of lipid peroxidation.
