Title: ANTAGONISTIC EFFECT OF LBP ON HEPATIC OXIDATIVE DAMAGE INDUCED BY CADMIUM IN RATS
Abstract: [Objective] To study the antagonistic effect of LBP on hepatic oxidative damage induced by cadmium in rats. [Methods] Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups: control group, cadmium group, interventional group 1,interventional group 2 and interventional group 3. Control group was intragastrically given with 0.9% NaCl and intraperitoneally injected with 0.9% NaCl two hours later. Cadmium group was gastric lavage with 0.9% NaCl and intraperitoneally injected with cadmium chloride(CdCl2) 1.5mg /kg two hours later. LBP of 5,10 and 20mg /kg were gastric lavage of the rats of the interventional group 1,2,3 respectively, and then were intraperitoneally injected with CdCl2 1.5mg /kg two hours later. All the groups were treated for five days. At the sixth day, liver of the rats was collected. The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malonydialdehyde(MDA) and glutatione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and glutathione(GSH) in the liver were measured. [Results] In cadmium group, the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD) ,glutatione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and glutathione(GSH) in the liver decreased and malonydialdehyde(MDA) increased. Compared with the cadmium group, the SOD in interventional group 1,2 and 3 increased to 101.8%,113.2% and 114.6%,respectively. The MDA decreased to 75.3%,63.8% and 43.5%,respectively,the GSH-Px increased to 111.6%,160.3% and 158.8%,respectively,and the GSH increased to 115.0%,132.6% and 136.1%,respectively. [Conclusion] Pretreatment with LBP in rats could antagonize hepatotoxicity induced by cadmium to a certain extent.
