Title: Antidiabetic effects of Ge-Gen-Qin-Lian-Tang decoction and its aggregated compositions on STZ-induced diabetic Wistar rats
Abstract: Ge- Gen- Qin- Lian- Tang decoction( GGQLT) is a classic traditional Chinese medicine herbal tonic and is effective in treating type 2 diabetes clinically. High speed centrifuge was employed to approximately separate the aggregates( sediments) and solutes( supernatant). The type 2 diabetic Wistar rats, induced by high fat high sugar diet( 4 weeks) in combination with an intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin( STZ),were used to access the influence of oral administration of GGQLT decoction and its fractions on body weight, blood glucose, blood lipid, blood insulin,SOD activity in organs, for demonstrating the correlation between the anti- diabetic effects and aggregates in the decoction. To conclude, the aggregates from GGQLT decoction conduct antidiabetic effects via elevating the antioxidant activity in pancreas and liver, promoting the insulin secretion and improving the blood lipid metabolism.
