Abstract:Objective To understand the characteristics of the public health emergency in Qiannan prefecture of Guizhou province,and provide evidence for the development of emergency response strategies.Methods T...Objective To understand the characteristics of the public health emergency in Qiannan prefecture of Guizhou province,and provide evidence for the development of emergency response strategies.Methods The epidemiological analysis was conducted on the types,characteristics and causes of the public health emergencies occurred in Qiannan from 2006 to 2009.Results A total of 118 public health emergencies were reported during this period,resulting in 2 851 disease cases(including 9 deaths).The average incidence rate of the disease was 25.57% and the case fatality was 0.32%.The public health emergencies caused by communicable disease outbreaks,food poisoning,unknown origin disease outbreak and pollution induced poisoning events accounted for 80.50%,17.79% and 0.85% of the total respectively.The public health emergencies occurred in schools/child care settings,villages in rural area,households in urban area and factories/mines/military bases accounted for 75.42%,22.03 and 0.85% of the total respectively.Conclusion It is necessary to strengthen the immunization among students and food safety surveillance in rural area to prevent and control public health emergency.Read More
