Title: Expression and Clinical Significance of Cathepsin-D in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of Cathepsin D(Cath-D) on the invasion, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The expression of Cath-D was detected in 66 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and normal mucous membrane as controls by immunohistochemistry(SP method),and it's relationship with the clinical stage, clinical classification, pathological grade and lymph node metastasis of laryngeal carcinoma patients was analyzed. Results The positive rates of Cath-D in laryngeal carcinoma and normal mucous membrane were 78.79%(52/66) and 9.09%(6/66) respectively, the difference was significant between them(P0.05).The positive rate of Cath-D has significant difference in patients' age, clinical stage, clinical classification and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).In addition, the negative rate of Cath-D in laryngeal carcinoma has no relation with pathological grade. Conclusions Cath-D may be important tumour marker. It may play important role during invasion, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
