Abstract: Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy and safety between aripiprazole and clozapine in the treatment of schizophrenia.Method:100 patients with schizophrenia were randomly divided into two groups, aripiprazole group and clozapine group for 12 weeks.Positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS),treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS),and short form 36 health survey questionaire(SF-36)were used to evaluate the efficacy or safety. Results:The total scores of PANSS obviously decreased in both groups and there was no significant difference between the two groups after treatment(P0.05).The incidence rate of side effects in aripiprazole group was significant lower than that in clozapine group(P0.05).Conclusion:Aripiprazole is a safe and effective antipsychotic drug, with similar efficacy as clozapine and fewer side effects in the treatment of schizophrenia.
