Title: PRELIMINARY STUDIES ON FERMENTATIVE PRODUCTION OF TRYPTOPHAN
Abstract: A strain of Candida capable of producing tryptophan from anthranilic acid was selected out from 271 strains of yeasts. It was identified as Candida arborea (AS 2.566). Fermentation conditions for produ- cing tryptophan were investigated. It was found that the yield of tryptophan was varied with the rate of aeration and the concentration of anthranilic acid etc.The yield of tryptophan was raised by using batch feeding of alcohol- anthranilie acid mixture.More than 5 g/l of tryptophan was produced in a 30 liter fermenter.
