Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between bone mineral density(BMD) and the level of serum insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ(IGF-Ⅰ) in elder women with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods BMD was meas...Objective To investigate the relationship between bone mineral density(BMD) and the level of serum insulin-like growth factor-Ⅰ(IGF-Ⅰ) in elder women with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods BMD was measured by double-X ray bone mineral density meter.The level of serum IGF-Ⅰ was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay.Results Compared with normal control group,the incidence of osteoporosis(OP) in type 2 diabetic women was significantly higher (P0.05),and the level of serum IGF-Ⅰ was significantly lower (P0.05).In osteoporosis group with type 2 diabetes mellitus,the level of serum IGF-Ⅰ was significantly lower (P0.05),than those without osteoporosis.In type 2 diabetes mellitus group,the BMD was positively related with IGF-Ⅰ (P0.05).Conclusions The morbidity of osteoporosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus was higher.IGF-Ⅰ plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of bone formation.Read More
