Methods The dual energy X- ray absorptiometry was used to get the BMD value of the lumbar spine( L1- 4)and left femur in 41 cases of postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetic. According to whether the patients suffered from osteoporosis or not, they were divided into osteoporosis group( OP group,n = 23) and non- osteoporosis group( NOP group n = 18). The height, weight, body mass index( BMI),serum calcium, serum phosphorus content and glycosylated hemoglobin content( Hb A1c) of the two groups were observed and compared, and relevance analysis was carried out. Results There was difference between the OP group and NOP group in the body weight, body mass index and Hb A1 c which was statistically significant( P 0. 05). However, there was no difference in the serum calcium, serum phosphorus and height of the two groups( P 0. 05). The related factors analysis showed that the BMD was negatively correlated with Hb A1 c,but positively related with the weight and BMI. Conclusion The Hb A1 c,body weight and BMI are the important factors that influence the BMD of postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes, which hint that active control of the blood glucose, body weight and body mass index is the important measure to prevent the postmenopausal osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Read More
