Title: Characteristics of coronary artery lesion in elderly patients with coronary artery disease
Abstract: Objective To study the characteristics of coronary arteriography of coronary artery disease(CHD)in elderly patients. Methods 602 patients, including elderly female patients(207)who underwent coronary angiography(CAG)and diagnosed as CHD(123),non-elderly female patients(129)and elderly male patients(266),were retrospectively reviewed. The difference in positive rates of CAG between elderly and non-elderly female patients, and the difference in coronary artery lesion between elderly female and male patients who diagnosed as CHD were studied. Results The positive rates of CAG of unstable angina pectoris(77.3% vs 57.7%)and acute myocardial infarction(95.8% vs 66.7%)in elderly female group were much higher than those in non-elderly female group(P0.01).There were no significant differences in rates of stable angina pectoris(78.2% vs 76.5%)and old myocardial infarction(95.0% vs 100.0%)between the two groups(P0.05).In female and male elderly groups with positive CAG,the numbers of the stenotic coronary arteries had no significant difference among differenct clinical types(P0.05).The Gemsini scores of coronary artery of stable angina pectoris(54±7 vs 46±5)and old myocardial infarction(78±9 vs 68±4)in elderly female group were higher than those in elderly male group(P0.05).There was no significant difference in coronary artery lesion distribution between the two groups. Conclusions The positive rate of CAG in elderly female patients is higher than that in non-elderly female patients. The sererity of coronary artery lesion in some elderly female patients is higher than that in elderly male patients.
