Title: Analysis of coronary arteriography of coronary artery disease in elderly male patients
Abstract: AIM To study the difference of coronary arteriography(CAG) of coronary artery disease (CHD) between non-elderly and elderly male patients. METHODS All of the 475 male patients, who had undergone CAG and been diagnosed CHD, were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were divided into elderly group (260) and non-elderly group (215), and the difference of coronary artery lesion between the two groups was analyzed. RESULTS In elderly group, the number of coronary stenosis (1.9±0.1 vs 1.6±0.1) and the intergra of coronary artery (45±6 vs 27±3) in angina pectoris at rest were much higher than those in non-elderly group. The number of coronary stenosis (1.9±0.1 vs 1.9±0.1) and the intergra of coronary artery (46±5 vs 44±5) were very close in exertional angina pectoris. The number of coronary stenosis (2.4±0.1 vs 2±0.1) and the intergra of coronary artery (68±4 vs 56±4) in acute myocardial infarction in elderly group were much higher than those in non-elderly group. In old myocardial infarction, no significant difference of vascular distribution was observed between the two groups. In elderly group, the proportion of one-vessel lesion(31.9% vs 44.7%)was much lower than that in non-elderly group while the proportion of three-vessel lesion(43.8% vs 33.0%)and four-vessel lesion was much higher than that in non-elderly group(2.5% vs 1.0%). CONCLUSION The degree of coronary artery lesion in elderly patients with angina pectoris at rest and acute myocardial infarction is much higher than that in non-elderly group, while the degree of coronary artery lesion in elderly patients with exertional angina pectoris and old myocardial infarction is similar to that in non-elderly group.
