Title: Study on the Hyperbranched Polymer Modified Epoxy Resin
Abstract: Hyperbranched polymer(HBP) was one of the most promising materials for modification of thermoset resins.HBP was synthesized with trimethylolpropane(TMP) and dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA) as the reagents by a one-pot synthesis procedure. The effect of HBP content on the mechanical performance of the bisphenol-A epoxy was investigated, and the thermal property of the cured resin was also studied by employing differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA).The results indicated that both the impact strength and the bending strength were enhanced to 153% and 19.3% respectively, with HBP loadings of 15%.The thermal property of the HBP modified epoxy was also increased to some extent. It proved that HBP was a potential modifier for epoxy resin.
