Title: Treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with neurolytic radiofrequency thermocoagulation
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of transcutaneous radiofrequency thermocoagula- tion for treating trigeminal neuralgia. Methods One hundred and five inpatients with trigeminal neuralgia were treated with neurolytic radiofrequency thermocoagulation to the ganglion semilunare. infraorbital foramen, maxillary nerve, inferior maxillary nerve.Temperature of 60℃,65℃,70℃, 75℃,80℃,85℃were use in turns ,60 s per time. Results Of 105 cases, there were 12 cases in branchⅠ,45 cases in branchⅡ,23 cases in branchⅢ,and 25 cases in branchesⅡ+Ⅲ.The results showed that excellent effect was 84 cases(80.0%),good was 15 cases(14.2%),including 3 eases (2.9%)who were treated two times, ineffective 3 cases(2.9%).The total effective rate was 97.1%.There were no severe ,permanent complications except hypoesthesia on the primary area in different level. Conclusion The treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with radiofrequency thermocoagu- lation is an effective and safety method.
