Title: Study on the Short-Term and Long-Term Effect and Safety of Laparoscopic Versus Open Radical Resection for Rectal Cancer
Abstract: Objective: To explore the short-term and long-term effect and safety of laparoscopic versus open radical resection for rectal cancer. Methods: 116 patients with rectal cancer who were scheduled to receive radical resection in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups.Laparoscopic group(n=56) was treated with laparoscopic radical resection, and open group(n=60) was treated with open radical resection. All the patients were followed up for 5 years. The short-term effect indicators including time of operation, intraoperative blood loss, time of passage of gas by anus, hospital stay and complications, and 1-year,3-year,5-year survival rate were compared. Results: Compared with the open group, the operation time increased, while intraoperative blood loss, time of passage of gas by anus, and time of catheter indwelling decreased remarkably(P0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in the number of lymph nodes excised(P0.05).The complication rate of wound infection and intestinal obstruction in laparoscopic group were significantly lower than those in open group(P0.05).The 1-year,3-year,5-year survival rate after operation were not significantly different between the two groups(P0.05),while the difference was significant in patients over 60-year-old at 3-year and 5-year after operation(P0.05).Conclusion: The short-term effect of laparoscopic radical resection is better than open radical resection for rectal cancer, and effect of radical cure is comparable. It can contribute to reduce postoperative complication and improve long-term survival rate.
