Title: Therapeutic effect of laparoscopic versus laparotomic radical resection for rectal cancer
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic radical resection for rectal cancer. Methods Of 73 rectal cancer patients,35 were performed with laparoscopic radical resection,38 were performed with laparotomic radical resection. Two groups were compared in terms of operative time, hospitalization expenses, incision length, and bleeding volume, etc. Results Compared with the open operation group, the laparoscopic group had longer operative time and more hospitalization expenses(P 0.05),but less incision length, bleeding volume, the postoperative and exhaust time, activity time, and the hospital stays(P 0. 05). There was no statistical difference in number of cleaned lymph nodes or the incidence of complication( P 0. 05). Conclusions Compared with the open operation, the laparoscopic radical resection for rectal cancer is associated with less intraoperative bloods loss, fast recovery, and shorter length of hospital stay.
