Title: Significance of measurement of p53 gene protein in colorectal cancer by immunohistochemical method
Abstract: Objective To study the significance of tumor suppression gene p53 gene in colorectal carcinoma. Methods Forty two patients with colorectal carcinoma underwent surgical resection. ABC immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of p53 gene proteins. Results There were no obvious correlations between p53 expression and infiltrationsize and depth, and Dukes staging. Twenty two patients were p53 positive, in which 14 was accompanied with lymph node metastasis, while only 5 had lymph node metastasis in 20 patients with p53 negative. Conclusion The p53 gene overexpression is mainly related to the prognosis and is easy for tumor to metastasize.
