Title: A Clinical Trial on the Influence of Spleen-strengthening and Blood-activating Treatment on Lipid Disorder of Diabetic Millitus Type 2 Patients
Abstract: Objective:To study the influence of spleen-strengthening and blood-activating method in balancing the blood sugar and lipid of type 2 diabetic millitus(T2-DM) patients.Methods:56 T2-DM patients with lipid disorder were differentiated as spleen qi deficiency, blood stagnation type in TCM,and then divided into two groups(i.e.the group under TCM treatment and the group to be compared) randomly. All the patients were treated with basic treatment: low lipid diabetic diet and exercise;Glipizide tablet 5-20mg po.daily.For the group under TCM treatment, the spleen-strengthening and blood-activating recipe was applied to the 30 patients. Each patient was given one recipe per day, which would be decocted and used twice,i.e.in the morning and evening respectively. For the group to be compared, the 26 patients were treated with Glipizide XL,0.5g TID,used after meal.Observation period for both groups is three months.Results:FPG,HbA1C,BMI,TC,TG and HDL-C values showed noted difference(P0.05)before and after treatment for both groups.Particularly, the difference(P0.05)in TG and HDL-C values measured on the patients from the two groups after treatment was statistically significant.Conclusion:Spleen-strengthening and blood-activating therapy is helpful in decreasing the blood lipid of T2-DM patients, demonstrating the cooperated function and unique advantage of TCM in treating this disease.
