Title: Efficacy Observation of Irbesartan Combined with Amolodipine in the Treatment of Elderly Hypertension Complicating with Type 2 Diabetes
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy of irbesartan combined with amolodipine in the treatment of elderly hypertension complicating with type 2 diabetes. METHODS: 135 cases of elderly hypertension complicating with type 2 diabetes in our hospital from Jan. 2008 to Sep. 2010 were randomly divided in to 3 groups with 45 cases in each group. Patients in irbesartan group were given oral irbesartan 150 mg per day, and amolodiine group was given amolodipine 5 mg per day, and combined therapy group was given irbesartan 150 mg and amolodipine 5 mg per day. All the patients received treatment for 16 weeks. Blood pressures were measured before and after treatment. RESULTS: Systolic pressures and diastolic pressures in 3 groups significantly decreased after treatment, there was statistical significance (P0.01). The therapeutic efficacy of combined therapy group was better than that of irbesartan group and amolodiine group, there was statistical significance (P0.05). The qualified rate of combined therapy group was higher than that of the other 2 groups (P0.05). There were no serious ADR in each groups. CONCLUSION: Irbesartan combined with amolodipine in better than better than single drug for elderly hypertension complicating with type 2 diabetes.
