Title: The clinical study of irbesartan and amlodipine for the treatment of type 2 diabetes combined with hypertension
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of irbesartan and amlodipine, irbesartan or amlodipine in patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with hypertension. Methods One hundred and sixteen patients with type 2 diabetes combined with hypertension were randomly divided into three treatment groups: group A(group irbesartan,n=37),group B(group amlodipine,n=38),group C(irbesartan and amlodipine,n=41).Each group were treated for 8 weeks.Blood pressure, insulin sensitivity,C-reaction protein and the level of microalbuminuria were evaluated before and after treatment. Results Both systolic and diastolic blood pressure were decreased significantly among all groups after treatment.HOMA-IR index was significantly decreased in three groups.C-reaction protein was decreased after treatment in group C,but there was no difference in group A and group B.Microalbuminuria in group A and group C were significantly decreased after treatment, but there was no difference in group B.Conclusion Compared to irbesartan or amlodipine, combined irbesartan and amlodipine had a better management for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with hypertension and significantly increased the controlled rate of blood pressure, offered an advantage due to its improvement of insulin sensitivity, decreasing C-reaction protein and renal dysfunction.
