Title: COMBINED USE OF TINIDAZOLE AND SPIRAMYCIN TO TREAT CHRONIC PERIODONTITIS
Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical effects of local application of tinidazole and spiramycin on chronic periodontitis. Methods 30 teeth from 30 cases of chronic periodontitis were treated with tinidzole and spiramycin, while another 30 teeth with different quadrants from the same patients were treated with tinidazole in the contrast group.Changes in clinical index in both groups were observed. Results The gingival index(GI),plague index(PI) and the probing depth(PD) in the treatment group were(1.66±0.70) and(2.48±0.18) respective before treatment and(1.01±0.41),(1.11±0.50) and(2.31±0.20) respectively after 30-day treatment in the experimental group(P0.01).The percentage in the site of Bop dropped from 100% to 21.67%.The GI,PI and PD after 30-day treatment were(1.01±0.41),(1.11±0.51) and(2.31±0.20) in the experimental group and(1.29±0.60),(1.48±0.60) and(4.00±0.35) in the contrast group(P0.05).The percentage in the site of Bop decreased from 21.67% to 40.00%(P0.05).Conclusion The combined use of tinidazole and spiramycin can produce better curative effects on chronic periodontitis than the sole use of tinidazole.
