Title: Clinical analysis of radiation therapy combined with TP chemotherapy for esophageal cancer
Abstract: Objective:To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of radiation therapy combined with TP chemotherapy for esophageal cancer. Methods:Total of 200 advanced esophageal carcinoma patients were randomized into two groups.100 patients in combined group received chemoradiotherapy:paclitaxel 135mg/m2,d1;DDP30mg/m2,d1-3,and received radiotherapy a week later. All patients were irradiated 2Gy per fraction, five fractions a week, the total dose was 60-70Gy/6-7w.Results:The clinical improvement in the combined group was 88% and 68.0% in the radiotherapy only group(P 0.05).Short-term effect in the combined group was 89.1% and 67.0% in the radiotherapy only group(P 0.05).The acute toxic effect was sevre in combined group than in radiotherapy only group. The 1,2,3-year survival rate were 63%,50%,39% in the combined group, and 54%,42%,30% in the radiotherapy only group,(P 0.05).Conclusion:The result of radiotherapy combined TP chemotherapy was more effective than radiotherapy alone in the treatment of esophageal cancer.
