Title: Simultaneous Determination of Catechol and Hydroquinone at Poly-L-Cys/MultiWall Carbon Nanotubes Composite Film Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode
Abstract: Functionalized multi-wall nano-carbon tubes(MWNT′s) was dispersed in L-cysteine solution.The mixed solution obtained was dropped on the surface of glassy carbon electrode(GCE),and then polymerised electrochemically in pH 6.9 B-R buffer solution at the potential of-1.0-2.5 V.This modified electrode prepared as described above was named abbreviately as Poly-L-Cys/MWCNTs/GCE.It was found that either of catechol and hydroquinone showed a pair of oxidation peak and reduction peak at Poly-L-Cys/MWCNTs/GCE,with potential difference of the oxidation peak of both compounds attained to the value of 101mV.Based on these findings,a selectrive method for simultaneous determination of catechol and hydroquinone by differential pulse voltammetry was proposed.Linear relationships between values of peak current and concentration of catechol and hydroquinone were obtained in the range of 1.0×10-5-1.0×10-3mol·L-1,with their detection limits(3S/N) of 1.0×10-6mol·L-1.The proposed method was used in the analysis of simulated sample,giving values of recovery of catechol and hydroquinone in the range of 82.0%-107.0%.
