Title: Electrochemical Behavior of Catechol at GCE Modified with Gold Nano-particles and Carbon Nanotubes
Abstract: Electrochemical behavior of catechol was studied at glassy carbon electrode modified compositely with gold nano particles and carbon nano tubes(designated as AuNP′s-CNT′s/GCE) by cyclic voltammetry in a phosphate buffer supporting electrolyte of pH 7.0 in the potential range of-1.0 to 1.0 V(vs.SCE).As shown by the experimental results, siginficant electro-catalysis was observed at this modified electrode, and the catalytic effect was stronger than those at the electrode modified either with AuNP′s or CNT′s singly. It was shown also that the electrode reaction of catechol at the AuPN′s-CNT′s/GCE was controlled by the process of surface adsorption.Linear relationship between values of oxidation peak current and concentration of catechol was obtained in the range of 4.0×10-5-1.0×10-3mol·L-1.Detection limit(3S/N) of 1.0×10-5mol·L-1 was found under optimum conditions.Three isomers of dihydroxybenzene were determined simultaneously by this method.
