Title: An Investigation on the Court Banquet in Northern Wei Dynasty
Abstract: The emperors of Northern Wei Dynasty often gave banquets in order to grant reward to their subjects. There are many kinds of court banquet,and the social groups concerned are rather extensive. When the emperor gave a dinner in honor of his ministers,the etiquette between the king and minister should be complied with,yet when the emperor gave a dinner in honor of the royal family,the etiquette between family members should be adopted. Puyan(酺宴) that is a kind of gathering for all persons written into household register aims to show the kindness of emperor. The above court banquets are associated with the administrative policies of the emperors,and thus resulted in obvious social influences.
