Title: The comparison of SOD expression between senescence-accelerated and natural aging mice
Abstract: Objective To explore the role of superoxide dismutase (SOD)in aging course and the difference between senescence-accelerated and Kunming aging mice by the detection of SOD expression. Methods 20 senescence-accelerated mice (10 three-month and 10 six-month old mice)and 20 Kunming mice (10 three-month and 10 fifteen-month old mice)were selected to detect the location of SOD by immunohistochemistry, SOD protein activity and MDA content by biochemistry, SOD protein content by western blot and SOD gene changes by RT-PCR.Results The expression and activity of SOD protein and gene in liver obviously decreased in aging models. MDA content presented aging increase. Conclusions SOD shows similar changes trend between senescence-accelerated and Kunming natural aging mice, playing an important role in aging.
