Title: Correlation between C-reactive protein and peripheral leukocyte count in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract: Objective To discuss the clinical significance of serum CRP and WBC levels for early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and its macrovascular complications. Methods 181 cases aged between 20 and 84 years old,126 patients with T2DM was diagnosed according to the T2DM standard of WHO in 1999.General information and the laboratory parameters of patients in the five groups were collected. Results CRP and WBC were higher in diabetics than that in normal control(P0.05).And the fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and microalbuminuria protein(MA) in diabetics group were increased(P0.05);There was positive correlation between WBC,CRP and FBG,2hFBG,HbA1c%,and there was negative correlation between WBC,CRP and IBIL,HDL-C.CRP levels were positively related to serum WBC.The course of disease,HbA1c,LDL-C and HDL-C were main risk factors for diabetic angiopathy. Conclusion Routine detection of CRP and WBC are helpful to predict and interfere diabetes mellitus and blood vessel complication.
