Title: Influence of detrusor function on urodynamic parametes in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Abstract: Objective:To study the influence of detrusor function on urodynamic parametes in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and its clinical value. Methods: The urodynamic deta of 113 patients with BPH were studied. One hundred and thirteen patients were divided into 2 groups according to detrusor contractility:the normal detrusor contractility group and the decreased group. According to detrusor instability(DI) they were divided into the DI group and the non-DI group, According to bladder compliance(BC), they could be divided into high, middle and low BC three group. Results: The normal detrusor contractility group was higher in the incidence of DI and bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) than that of the decreased group. There was no statistically significant difference inQmax, BC and the incidence of acute urine retention (AUR).The low BC group was higher in the incidence of DI and BOO than that of the high BC group and there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of DUA between this two groups. The DI group was higher in the incidence of BOO and the low BC and lower in the incidence of DUA than that of the non-DI group. Conclusion: The urodynamic parametes reflecting detrusor function are associated with BOO and they interact with each other. If there are no definite P-F findings, the other urodynamic parametes are very helpful in judgement of BOO and detrusor function. It is necessary for those patients with BPH to do urodynamic studies for diagnosis and treatment.
