Title: Association between H-type hypertension and large cerebral artery atherosclerosis
Abstract: Objective To study the association between H-type hypertension and large cerebral artery atherosclerosis. Methods One hundred and ninety-six acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease patients with hypertension who underwent aortic arch+brain CTA were divided into cerebral artery stenosis group(n=149)and non cerebral artery stenosis group(n=147).H-type hypertension was diagnosed when the serum Hcy level was≥10μmol/L.The patients were further divided into H-type hypertension group(n=153)and non H-type hypertension group(n=43).Results The serum Hcy level was significantly higher in cerebral artery stenosis group than in non cerebral artery stenosis group(21.91±13.87μmol/L vs 14.52±10.09μmol/L,P0.01).Logistic regression analysis showed that H-type hypertension was closely associated with large cerebral artery atherosclerosis. The incidence of large cerebral artery atherosclerosis increased with the elevated serum Hcy level(OR=2.40,10.80,8.45;OR=2.90,10.75,6.91,P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion H-type hypertension is closely associated with serum Hcy level. The higher the serum Hcy level is,the higher the risk to develop atherosclerosis is in hypertensive patients.
