Title: p63 and cytokeratin 5/6 expression and its value of differential diagnosis in squamous carcinomas
Abstract: Objective To explore p63 and cytokeratin 5/6 protein expression and its value of differential diagnosis in squamous carcinomas. Methods The expression of p63 and CK5/6 protein was identified by using Elivision's immunohistochemical essay in the paraffin embed tissue sections of 102 cases of squamous cell carcinomas and 98 cases of non-squamous cell carcinomas respectively. Results The positive immunohistochemical reaction of p63 protein were found in 98%(100/102) of squamous cell carcinomas and 7.1%(7/98) of non-squamous carcinomas respectively. The difference between two groups was statistically significant(χ 2=165.99,P0.01).The positive immunohistochemical reaction of CK5/6 protein were found in 59.8%(61/102) of squamous cell carcinomas and 9 2%(9/98) of non-squamous carcinomas respectively. The difference between two groups was statistically significant(χ 2=50.29,P0.01).The coexpression of p63 and CK5/6 protein were found in 39.2%(40/102) of squamous cell carcinomas and 3.1%(3/98) of non-squamous carcinomas respectively. The difference between two groups was statistically significant(χ 2=38.71,P0.01).Conclusion The coexpression of p63 and CK5/6 protein redound to elevate the veracity in differential diagnosis for poor differential squamous carcinomas.
