Title: Study of the Expression of CD44s Gene Protein in Non-small Cellular Lung Cancer
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of standard CD44(CD44s) gene protein in non-small cell lung carcinomas(NCLCS) and its relation to tumor's histological types, degree of defferentiation, and metastasis. Methods After the antigen was restored by microwave and buffer solution of citrate salts and stained with microwaver and LSAB immunohistochemical methods. The positive rate of CD44s was analyzed in 78 cases of NSCLC and its relation to tumor's histological type, the degree of differentiation, and metastasis of lymph node were explored. Results The results showed that total positive percentage was 74 4%(58/78) in NSCLC.The positive rate of NSCLCs were 63 2%(24/38) in squamous cell carcinomas,88 9%(24/27) in adenocarcinomas,83 3%(5/6) in large cell carcinomas and 71 4%(5/7) in adenosquamous carcinomas respectively. There were significant differences(P0 01) between squamous cell carcinomas and adenosquamous carcinomas, and large cell carcinomas. The positive rate of in high-,moderate-,low-differentiated and undifferentiated carcinomas, were 68 4%(13/19),75 8%(25/33),76 2%(16/21),and 80 0%(4/5) respectively. There were significant defferences(P0 01) existed between high defferentiated and undifferentiated carcinomas.Total and strong positive rate of NSCLCs were 48 1%(17/27) and 25 9%(7/27) in the cases with metastasis, while 88 2%(45/51) and 74 5%(38/51) in those without metastasis(P0 01).Conclusion NSCLC patients with higer CD44s positive expression rate had lower metastasis. The expression of CD44s in cancer cell can be used as a valuable marker in the discrimination of the histological type and the potential metastasis.
