Title: Expression and significance of MMP-9、Bcl-2 and VEGF in renal cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To study the expression of matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9),Bcl-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in renal cell carcinoma. Methods Protein expression MMP-9,Bcl-2 and VEGF in RCC tissues was examined by immunohistochemical assay. Results The positive rates of MMP-9,Bcl-2 and VEGF were higher in renal cell carcinoma than in normal renal tissues. There were no significant differences among different pathological grades and clinical stages for expression of MMP-9 and bcl-2.But a significant difference was found between the low grade tumor and high grade tumor, the low stage tumor(Ⅰ+Ⅱ) and the high stage tumor(Ⅲ+Ⅳ)for the VEGF expression. The expression of MMP-9 and VEGF were significantly different between the metastasis group and the non-metastasis group. Conclusion MMP-9,Bcl-2 and VEGF might be involved in the transformation of benign to malignant process. The expression of MMP-9 is correlated with the development and metastasis of renal cell carcinoma.VEGF may serve as a predictor of clinical prognosis.
