Title: Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor(VEGF) in Renal Cancer
Abstract: Objective To investigate expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in renal cancer and determine its relationship to clinical and pathological factors. Methods 46 cases of renal cancer tissues were studied by immunohistochemical technique. Results The expression rate of VEGF in neoplastic tissues was 73.9%,VEGF expression was focussed in cell membranes and cytoplasms. No close correlation was found between expression of VEGF and tumor size, cell type or grades of cancer( P 0.05),but it was associated with clinical stages( P 0.05).Moreover,the patients with VEGF positive tumors had a shorter survival than those with VEGF negative tumors( P 0.05).Conclusion Expression of VEGF has an important influence on the biological behavior of renal cancer,it might serve as an indicator to the metastasis and prognosis of renal cancer.
