Title: A Preliminary Clinicopathological Study of Supratentorial Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumors:a Report of 9 Cases
Abstract: Objective To explore clinicopathological features, histogenesis and biological behavior of sup-ratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors(SPNET).Methods Nine cases of SPNET were studied by histopathological and immunohistochemical stainings. Results The biopsy showed fibrous bands surrounding nests of small round cell or spindle cell.Homer Wright rosettes could be found. There were granular nuclear chromatin and obscure nucleoli in the tumor cells.Immunohistochemical staining showed positive staining for neuron specific enolase in 9 cases, synaptophysin in 5 cases, glial fibrillary acidic protein in 4 cases and vi-nentmin in 1 case, and negative staining for neurofilament, leukocyte comman antigen and cell kerawtin in all the tumors. Conclusions SPNET is a rare and highly malignant tumor of soft tissue, and its diagnosis must be made by immunohistochemistry.
