Title: Expression of p21 in pancreatic carcinoma and its relationship to clinicopathological parameters
Abstract: Objective:To study the expression of p21 WAF1 in pancreatic carcinoma and its relationship to clinicopathological parameters, for the purpose of understanding the role of p21 WAF1 in the progression of tumors. Methods:Expression of p21 WAF1 was examined by immunohistochemical method, all data tested by χ 2 test. Results:In 30 case of pancreatic carcinoma, negative expression of p21 protein was detected in 10(33.3%) cases, and the expression of p21 significantly decreased in poorly differentiated tumors, in tumors with infiltrated vessel and positive lymph node metastases and in tumors of stage Ⅲ or Ⅳ (P0.05).Conclusion:The expression of p21 WAF1 in pancreatic carcinoma is related to the progression of pancreatic carcinoma and may be an indicator of high grade malignancy.
