Title: In vitro antibacterial activities of ampicillin/sulbactam
Abstract: Aim:To compare the antibacterial activities of domestic and imported ampicillin(AMP)/sulbactam(SBT)preparatin,and also to study the influence of pH of broth, inoculum size, and various comcemtrations of serum in broth on amtibacterial activity of the antibiotics. Methods:The collection of 510 clinical isolates in 1991~1992 Chengdu was used to assess in vitro susceptibility to antibiotics by using two fold plate or broth dilution method. Results:the MIC 50 value of the two prepartions was about 5 times and over 6 times that of AMP against gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria, respectively. In the comditions of changes of pH(from 5 to 9),inoculum size(from 10 3 秋10 9 CFU/ml),and serum concentrations(from 0% to 20%)in broth, the MIC value increased 1~4.Conclusion:SBT could augment the activities of AMP against bacteria. The changes of pH,inoculum size, and serum concentions of in broth omlp slightly influence the antibacterial activities of AMP/sbt preparation.
