Title: 3D forward modeling of time-domain electromagnetic responses excited by pulse sources
Abstract: Forward calculations of time domain electromagnetic responses with long time lasting for large scale model are required for deep exploration by using time domain electromagnetic methods. The primary fields excited by large power pseudo-Gauss pulse source are introduced to the 3D model by decomposing the total fields into primary and secondary fields.Calculation of secondary fields by the 3D anomalous body are achieved by solving the time domain finite difference equations based on staggered grids and time stepping iterations with unequal spacing both in space and time domains. This algorithm is verified by comparing the FDTD results with the analytical results for layered model and integral equation results for 3D model.Modeling results for a simple 3D model have clearly illustrated the diffusion processes of primary fields to the ground and secondary scattering of anomalous fields induced in the 3D body with time for pulse time domain electromagnetic method.
