Title: Multiple Regression Analysis of Factors Related to the Peritoneal Metastasis Following Curative Resection for Gastric Cancer
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the risk factor(s) of peritoneal metastasis for gastric cancer patients who received curative resection. Methods:Sixty cases of gastric cancer, including 30 cases with peritoneal metastasis and 30 cases without recurrence were retrospectively reviewed.Clinicopathologic variables including tumor size, location, depth of infiltration,Borrmann type,TNM stage, and lymph node metastasis, etc.,were analyzed. Results:Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis,TNM stage,Borrmann type, and preoperative serum-CEA level were risk factors for peritoneal metastasis(P0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the only independent risk factor of peritoneal metastasis was lymph node metastasis among all the clinicopathologic variables(P0.01).Conclusion:Gastric cancer patients with lymph node metastasis tended to have greater risk of peritoneal metastasis after curative resection. The lymph node metastasis correlates closely with the peritoneal metastasis after curative resection for gastric cancer.
