Title: Correlation of lymph node metastasis and postoperative radiotherapy in gastric carcinoma patients
Abstract: Objective To analyze the correlation between gastric cancer lymph node metastasis number and postoperative radiotherapy curative effect and corresponding pathological findings. Methods Data of 214 patients admiited to our hospital from May 2006 to May 2008 with gastric cancer dignosed by clinical examination receiving radical surgery and with postoperative lymph node metastasis were retrospectively analyzed. All cases with lymph node metastasis were cleaned by D2 or D3,and were treated with the radiotherapy both before and after treatment. The relationship among the number of lymph node metastasis, postoperative radiotherapy curative effect and corresponding pathology were summarized. Results Number of positive lymph node metastasis show no relationship in patients with general factors such as gender, age. However,it was positively correlated with tumor size, infiltration depth and staging. Positive metastasis lymph node number 1 ~ 5,6 ~ 9 and 9 postoperative patients with gastric cancer and 5-year survival rate was 50%,30% and 10% respectively after radiotherapy, the differences were statistical significant among the three( P 0. 05). Conclusion Positive lymph node metastasis number is a good prognosis indicator for patients with gastric cance. It is convenient and accurate to judge the prognosis of patients with postoperative gastric cancer combined with the tumor size, growth and infiltration.
