Title: Clinical significance of detection of IL-2 and IFN-γ in sera from patients with chronic hepatitis B during lamivudine treatment
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the variation of interleukin -2(IL -2) and interferon -γ(IFN -γ) in sera from patients with chronic hepatitis B during lamivudine treatment and its clinical significance. Methods: 50 chronic hepatitis B patients treated with lamivudine were selected as subjects. The level of IL -2 and IFN -γ were detected by enzyme -linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) before treatment and after treatment(12, 24, 36 and 48 weeks), and 10 healthy volunteers were used as the control. Based on the detection results of IL -2 and IFN -γ, these patients were divided into high level group and low level group. Results: The levels of IL -2 and IFN -γ in the patients were higher significantly than those in the control(P0.05). The complete response rates of IL -2 and IFN -γ in high level group were greater significantly than those in low level group(P0.05) and non -response rates in high level group were lower significantly than those in low level group(P0.05). The levels of IL -2 and IFN -γ of most patients increased after lamivudine treatment, especially in high level group. Conclusion: The changes of levels of IL -2 and IFN -γ are correlated with lamivudine treatment. In those patients with high level of IL -2 and IFN -γ before and after treatment, the treatment effect could be observed.
