Title: Analysis of Western Modes of Hot-spot Diplomacy and Its Implications to China
Abstract: In the 21st century,the main means for big powers to participate in global governance is hot-spot diplomacy. Affected by the various factors of military force,economic capability,political system,diplomatic ethics,national interest concerned as well as policy-makers' perception,the big powers and power bloc's hot-spot diplomacy has divergent means,ranging from launching military intervention,sending special envoy,formulating crisis management mechanism,relying on allies and quasi-allies,sending peace-keeping force,making use of mass media to set up agenda and centering on UN,to offering economic aid. This paper compares the different modes of hot-spot diplomacy in U.S.,Japan,EU and Russia,and probes its implication to the practice of China's hot-spot diplomacy in the new era.
