Title: Spiral CT of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer(NSCLC): Correlation of the Enhancement Imaging Features and Tumor MVD and VEGF
Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation of the enhancement imaging features of NSCLC and tumor angiogenesis. Methods Thirty patients with NSCLC underwent dynamic thoracic CT.Histopathological slides were carefully prepared for MVD? VEGF immunohistochemical staining and tumor microvessel counting and caculation of VEGF expression percentage of tumor cells. The enhancement imaging features of NSCLC lesions were correlatively studied with tumor MVD and VEGF expression and lymph node metastases. Results The mean peak attenuation was 36.28±6.41Hu,MVD was from 22.6 to 80,average value was 42.38±12.76; and the VEGF positive expressions were 21 patients, negative expressions were 9 patients. MVD was significantly positive correlated with VEGF; the extent of enhancement was also significantly correlated with tumor tissue MVD and VEGF ( P 0.01). In addition, enhancement extent,MVD and VEGF expression levels in patients with NSCLC stage II and III were higher than those in stage I,and in lymph node metastases group, they were also higher than those in non metastatic nodes. Conclusion CT enhancement of NSCLC can reflect tumor angiogenesis and correlate to lymph node metastases closely.
