Title: Study on the Activated Carbon of High Specific Surface Area for Electric Double-Layer Capacitors
Abstract: The activated carbon of high specific surface area is prepared with petroleum coke as raw material, and KOH and NaOH as activators. Using the activated carbon as the material of electrode of electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC), the influences of the kind of active agent and its ratio to petroleum coke on specific capacitance are researched. The coordinated action of the potassium and sodium element in the process of activation is analyzed tentatively. The results show that the specific capacitance of activated carbon of high surface area can reach 52.60 F/g when technology conditions well controlled. The EDLCs with the activated carbon as electrode material have good charge/discharge properties.
